The First Steps of a Home Window Installation Are Yours to Take

Before our crew comes to install your windows, there are a few steps we ask all our customers to take first, so our installers can get right to work on your new window installation.

Remove window coverings from all the windows that we will be replacing
Remove any hardware from those window coverings that are inside the window frame
Move all furniture that’s within 3 feet of your windows. If it’s too heavy for you to move on your own, we can help you with this step
Take down any wall hangings like photographs and artwork that may be knocked down when the wall vibrates from our window installation process
Keep small children, pets, and other family members out of our work area

New Window Installation

The old windows are painstakingly removed as we strive for as little glass breakage as possible. The frames are then cut free from the window opening in your wall. Then your new window frames are set into place, measured, squared, plumbed, and anchored with screws. The sashes are installed, and vinyl trim is caulked onto the frame, completing the inside.

On the outside, insulation is inserted between the vinyl window frame and the wall to ensure maximum energy efficiency from your new window installation. After that, the vinyl trim is installed to weatherproof your windows.

The last step is cleaning up the job site. Because we at Prestige Products Windows & Siding treat you like we’d like to be treated, we make sure your home is as clean when we leave as it was when we got there.
